A meeting of a section of leaders in Western Kenya was disrupted by police who lobbed teargas to disperse crowds in Kakamega county.
The meeting was to take place at MP Malulu Injendi's home in Malava constituency convened by Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa is seen engaging with the police officers arguing that the meeting was held in accordance with social distancing rules.
"We are sitting 1.5 metres apart. you cannot disrupt this meeting where everybody is observing the rules. The homestead is big and there are more than 15 people in the compound, you can't expect others to vacate," the agitated MP lashed at the officers.

Barasa further addressed the interruption stating that the security officers who were under instructions to stop the consultative meeting were flouting regulations of Social distancing as seen in the pictures below.
"As Luhya leaders we have decided we will unite for the benefit of our community and nation at large under the able leadership of ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Senator Moses Wetang'ula.
"The trio masquerading as self-proclaimed Luhya leaders and spokesmen have no backing of the community, they are on their own," he affirmed.
The leaders have kicked off a series of campaign meetings to popularise the presidential bid of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wetang'ula.
Barasa was among the legislators who accompanied the Ford Kenya Party Leader when his convoy was teargassed by police on Friday, June 19.
The vocal politician condemned the act noting that it was unnecessary for police to use force against the people.
"It's unprecedented that they decided to teargas innocent Mama Mbogas who were busy with their hustle. That was barbaric and retrogressive from those bestowed with the responsibility of ensuring citizens are safe," he stated on June 19.
