Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri and his Kapseret compatriot Oscar Sudi on Sunday, June 21, openly defied President Uhuru Kenyatta, confirming that they would not be attending the Jubilee Party Parliamentary Group scheduled for Monday.
The two legislators complained of insults present in previous PG meetings which they highlighted as their main reasons for failing to attend.
"I will not attend tomorrow's PG meeting at KICC as I said two weeks ago, I'm a middle-aged man but I cannot allow anybody to insult me.
"We have given the president an open arm to do any changes that what he wants, there is no reason for calling for a PG meeting," noted Oscar Sudi.
The Kapseret MP, however, argued that lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto had not been treated as stakeholders in the party.
Sudi added that he would not reveal the names of MPs who would miss the PG meeting but was certain that he would not attend the meeting.
Kimani Ngunjiri, on the other hand, cited what he described as 'foul language' in the meetings as his reason for skipping the PG meeting slated for Monday, June 22.
"I am not going because I want to remind Kenyans about our first PG meeting after elections. He insulted us and told us to leave.
"The recent PG we thought that he would come to unite people by calling for a ceasefire but he also insulted us," stated the Bahati MP.
President Kenyatta on Saturday, June 20, called MPs for a Jubilee Coalition National Assembly PG meeting set to be hosted at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC).
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe warned any legislator planning to miss the Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting of consequences.
"Missing tomorrow's PG meeting should not come to anyone's mind. Disciplinary actions are crystal clear in the Jubilee Party Act to those who are deviating from the fundamental requirements of the party," noted Murathe.
In an interview with Kenyans.co.ke, Kimili MP Didmus Barasa also confirmed that he would not be honouring the summon.
