Nyali MP Mohammed Ali aka Moha Jicho Pevu's allegations against President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family over the ownership of Mombasa port has angered a section of Muslim leaders.

Led by Sheikh Juma Ngao, Kenya Muslim National Advisory Council Chairman on June 26, gave the Legislator a 48-hour ultimatum to present evidence to back up his damning allegations against the First Family.

"You have named the President's and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho's families as beneficiaries in the project without evidence. This is defamation and characterisation and we are giving you 48 hours to present your evidence," Sheikh Ngao noted.

The religious leader further warned the MP to concentrate on developing the Nyali area rather than engaging in murky politics.

"If you continue like this, you will end being a one-term MP. You may have ambitions to run for governor but that is not how you go about it by peddling lies," he added noting that former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar faced a similar fate.

Jicho Pevu, who on during an address on Wednesday, June 24, namedropped Uhuru's relatives who are allegedly involved in scandals, was unable to provide evidence to support his allegations.

Speaking during a press briefing that was attended by Boni Khalwale and Johnstone Muthama, Ali claimed that the construction of the Naivasha container deport was strategically executed to benefit a few families at the detriment of the majority.

His exposé claimed that the issue starts from the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway in which the government officials disregarded the demands of the farmers on whose the Railway line would cut through.

"Why doesn't CS Macharia want the cargo from Mombasa to be transported by trucks but with the SGR, it is because they have a trick. It is not like they care about Kenyans, they are benefitting themselves to register companies with other people's names yet they own them," he stated during the address flanked by former senators Boni Khalwale and Johnstone Muthama.

He also named Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir as one fo the beneficiaries - allegations to which Nassir responded to during a parliamentary session on June 25.

The Mvita Mp held that he had been on the front lines in defending the rights of the people of Mombasa in regards to the project.

He further referenced the petition which he was part of that led to the CS James Macharia to rescind the proposal to have all cargo transported from Mombasa through the SGR.

Nassir in May 2020, held that the directive amounted to economic sabotage against not only the Coast region but also the livelihoods supported by the Mombasa port.

He added that they would not allow the ministry to implement the forced SGR use, adding that they are mulling enacting a law barring the minister from issuing such directives.
