Nyali MP Moha Jicho Pevu, formally known as Mohammed Ali, has taken his political fight against President Uhuru Kenyatta's Cabinet a notch higher.
Jicho Pevu, who on Wednesday, June 24, namedropped Uhuru's relatives who are allegedly involved in scandals, was unable to provide evidence to support his allegations.
Speaking during a press briefing that was attended by Boni Khalwale and Johnstone Muthama, Ali claimed that the construction of the Naivasha container deport was strategically executed to benefit a few families at the detriment of the majority.
His exposé claimed that the issue starts from the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway in which the government officials disregarded the demands of the farmers on whose the Railway line would cut through.
From the transaction, Ali claimed that the farmers only benefited from Ksh1 billion. He further argued that the land was later sold to the state.
"Why doesn't CS Macharia want the cargo from Mombasa to be transported by trucks but with the SGR, it is because they have a trick. It is not like they care about Kenyans, they are benefitting themselves to register companies with other people's names yet they own them," he said.
In his address, the lawmaker proceeded to name some of the people he alleged held shares at the depot with some of them being relatives closest to the head of state.
He further attacked Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho arguing that the county boss had signed a deal with the Mombasa Ports and was among beneficiaries even as residents who depended on truck transports lose their sources of livelihoods.
"The deputy Party leader of ODM Hassan Ali Joho is the first major beneficiary of the Mombasa port," declared the legislator showing a document that was signed by Joho's brother awarding them berths seven and eight.
These revelations come just a day after his motion seeking to impeach Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia over corruption was aborted by Members of Parliament.
In a latter letter, Ali focused on controversial contracts signed at the Ministry of Transport during the CS's tenure.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi had delivered a ruling on the floor of Parliament on Ali's proposed motion, disallowing it due to lack of evidence.
