Kenya Celebrates 2,039 Covid-19 Recoveries

Health CAS Rashid Aman, while addressing the media on Tuesday, June 30, at Afya House, announced that 26 Coronavirus patients had been discharged, bringing the number to 2,039.

In the last 24 hours, 176 Kenyans tested positive from 2,419 Coronavirus samples.

This brings the total tally to 6,366 confirmed Covid-19 cases from 169,836 samples tested since the start of the pandemic in Kenya.

Out of the 176 cases, 100 are male and 76 are female The ages of the new cases range from 3 years old to 78 years old.

Unfortunately, 4 more succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 148.

Of the new infections, Nairobi has 99 cases, Mombasa 20, Kiambu 17, Migori 13, Uasin Gishu 10, Kajiado 4, Busia 4, Kilifi 3, Makueni 2, Machakos 1, Narok 1, Kakamega 1 and Kisumu 1.

In Nairobi, Dagorretti North led with 24 cases, Starehe 16, Westlands 15, Embakasi 13, Kibra 7, Makardara 5, Kasarani 4, Lang'ata 3, Embakasi Central 2, Embakasi South,  Dagoretti South, Mathare Roy Sambu had one case each.

The CAS stated that the country had 28 testing centres, adding that the government was working to increase testing capacity. 

"Covid-19 isn't the last pandemic that we shall see, we need to make our healthcare system resilient to face these pandemics in the future. We need to have a robust health system," he assured. 

The Ministry was questioned on why Kenya was left out of the list of countries that would be allowed to travel to Europe, whereas Uganda was included on the list. 

The Health CAS responded that he had just learned about it from the journalist, adding that the ministry would follow up with foreign affairs officials to get to the bottom of the matter.
