Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru wrote an open letter to Interior PS Karanja Kibicho on Thursday, July 23 as the war between the two escalated.
Waiguru reiterated that Kibicho was frustrating her administration accusing him of secretly meeting with MCAs to plot her downfall, after she survived the impeachment motion tabled in the Senate in June 2020.
The Governor alleged that Kibicho took part in a meeting with over 20 MCAs who have ganged up and sworn to make Kirinyaga ungovernable.
In the meeting, Kibicho reportedly stated that he was to be seen as the one delivering the Handshake in Kirinyaga as opposed to Waiguru who was standing in his way.
"You asked them to maintain the pressure on the county government so as to achieve your objective. For their support, you committed to ensuring that they each got funding for a borehole from the national government a promise you are already delivering. You also promised them they would each get a rural road allocated under the KERRA programme," Waiguru claimed stated.
She added that Kibicho beseeched them to stay together because he, together with Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru would take over the reins of BBI in Kirinyaga and the Mt Kenya region.
The Jubilee Governor further stated that she had verified her sources and had spoken to a number of MCAs who attended the said meeting. Waiguru also claimed that she had evidence that Kibicho orchestrated her impeachment motion and accused him of being a primary catalyst in Kirinyaga.
Waiguru claimed that Kibicho was running a heavily funded and well-orchestrated scheme set to destabilize the county.
According to the Governor, her feud with the PS who she once accused of having an interest in the county's gubernatorial seat in 2022, led to the budget impasse in the County Assembly.
Waiguru detailed that she was ready to work with the PS to ensure Kirinyaga thrived and to also support President Uhuru Kenyatta's agenda.
"I am not in the business of rumor peddling. Had I not confirmed this information from impeccable sources, I would have dismissed it. Had this information not been prejudicial to the workings of the County I would have ignored it," Waiguru stated.
In his defence, PS Kibicho distanced himself from reports alleging that he planned Waiguru's impeachment.
"I have heard these allegations. People should stop deep-sea fishing. It is now a public thing and has generated public interest, even reported in the media. I want to face my accusers and settle this matter,” Kibicho stated on June 29, 2020.
