President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'official deejay', Ignatius Ogeto alias DJ Euphoric, in an interview that aired on Sunday August 2, revealed how he made Ksh520,000 in just 15 minutes.
DJ Euphoric had attended renowned gospel artist Daddy Owen's "Vanity" album launch as one of the performers back in 2016.
The emcee of the event, Big Ted, who doubled as State House's director of the brand strategy and events, marshalled a number of celebrities who raised money to buy him equipment.
"I was told to come on stage. Big Ted said that we had done a number of gigs, but I did not have equipment.
"So he urged artists to support me and within 15 minutes, I had over Ksh520,000, that was huge," noted DJ Euphoric.
Euphoric, is confined to a wheelchair shared his journey to becoming a successful DJ and how he landed the role of performing often at President Uhuru's events.
The DJ played the President's favourite song and revealed Uhuru's spiritual side and how he loves the slow nature of the tune.
"There's a song that the president likes, it is usually slow, it's a song that when he listens to, he feels uplifted. He is also a man of God," he explained.
Euphoric was born without any disability but at the age of 15, he started developing some pain on his joints and was later diagnosed with a degenerative joint disease that doctors said could not be cured.
Some of the challenges he faced in becoming a DJ was having to overcome his parents' opposition to the profession but they later changed tune to fully support him.
"My dream to become a deejay started when I was young, I must have been about six years old," he recalls.
He also struggled to find a suitable school to learn the tricks of the trade as most schools were located in the upper floors of buildings that lacked elevators.
The DJ landed a recurring role at Uhuru's events after Big Ted invited him to State House in December 2017 for an event and that was the first time he met Uhuru who was amazed by his talent.
"Many people call me the President’s official deejay because I have performed at State House numerous times," he told the Daily Nation in a past interview.
