Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, on the morning of Wednesday, August 12, put into perspective claims that the 'deep state' was behind government operations.

While appearing on Spice FM, the PS revealed that the phrase was a fictitious making by officials who were unable to deliver on promises to Kenyans.

While refuting that the 'deep state' existed, the PS further disclosed that he did not understand what the term stood for.

"There are very many things that we keep hearing and also wonder what they are. You see, when people dont understand something, they try to create explanations through mystery.

"Deep State is a term used by people loosely to mean bad things. I think this explanation is as outrageous as it can get. What is deep state? I am yet to understand it," he explained.

He also expressed interest to write a book in future about his life in politics and the controversial statements that were being manufactured by politicians.

"I think there isnt any deep state that I know about, the government is structured in a manner anybody can see. Nowadays we have a lot of facilities to ensure that we can interrogate anything that we think about.

"When people cannot explain some things to the people they are supposed to serve, It is very easy for them to say that 'I am not able to do this because of some deep state that is stopping me from doing it'," he added.

His explanation came just a day after Deputy President William Ruto warned Kenyans to stay firm against intimidation and threats from what he referred to as the “deep state and the system”.

The deep state is viewed as a group of influential members of government agencies or the military, believed to be involved in the secret manipulation or control of government policy.

"We are being threatened that there is a system or deep state which consists of people who will rig us out during the General Election and that the winners have already been predetermined

"I want to dare them. We are waiting for the so-called deep state. They have the system but we have the people and God on our side," stated the DP.

Reports had earlier emerged that the 'deep state' did not want the DP, who has expressed his interest to rise to the top seat in 2022, as the next head of state.
