Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday, August 24 called for the arrest of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed over the Covid-19 corruption scandal.
Murkomen alleged that Junet and his team of suppliers were involved in the Covid-19 scandal that has rocked the country with protests erupting in some major cities including Nairobi, Kisumu and Nakuru.
The spat started after Junet responded to a statement by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in which he reiterated ODM's stand on the scandal.
"We in ODM are calling for an exhaustive audit that produces incontrovertible evidence to make a watertight case against anyone found culpable. What’s Tanga tanga calling for?" Junet questioned.
The remarks appeared to rub Murkomen the wrong way after Junet asked what Deputy President Willam Ruto's allies were calling for with regards to the scandal.
"To start with, we are calling for your resignation and immediate arrest as you await your fellow suppliers to meet you in court," noted Murkomen.
Junet in a fiery response asked Murkomen to provide evidence of his claims and went ahead to revisit the Arror and Kimwarer Dams scandal.
"Stop behaving like a cheap guy who joined opposition politics the other day. If you have any evidence about me table them. I don’t want to lose my head and get rattled like you did when you were mentioned in the NYS scandal," responded Junet.
The Suna East MP was also involved in a spat with former State House digital director Dennis Itumbi who asked what action should be taken to leaders who have been implicated in the scandal.
In response, Junet also asked Itumbi to back his claims with evidence that he was involved in the Covid-19 corruption scandal adding that propaganda will not help in the issue.
Itumbi responded by clarifying his question to Junet and insisted that he had not implicated him in the multi-billion scandal.
"That is how the guilty respond. My question had nothing about your involvement, that will come at the right time. Let me repeat my question, what should Kenya do to leaders involved in stealing from Patients? and exposing them to death?" stated Itumbi.
On Monday, July 19 Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria named Junet and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga as persons of interest in the Ksh7 billion Covid-19 scandal.
