The Nyanza region has over the years provided hilarious reactions to political events with another popping up on Sunday, August 30, after President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga toured Kisumu.
The two made a low-profile visit to the lakeside city to inspect the Ksh3 billion Kisumu Port but journalists as well as members of the public were not allowed to get into the facility.
The man who was full of energy was oblivious of the errors he made in his speech as he explained that the visit by Uhuru and Raila was a sign of better things to come in the region.
"We are very happy because the political situation in the country is growing and we are very good, we have seen our President and his brother coming here, it is a big deal for us in Kenya and Anyang' Nyong'o is doing everything to make everything become good.
"We are building on this because the opposition was just trying to intimidate us. We have brought attention to them because they were thoughting that Raila and Uhuru are going to leave themselves apart but they are still stuck together," he explained.
According to the man, Raila was assured of winning the 2022 General Elections as he claimed that Deputy President William Ruto was now intimidated.
He also cited Ruto's rumoured plan of form another political party after reports emerged that Jubilee Asili would be registered as a party.
The man asked Kenyans to remain calm as he claimed that Raila would lead the country after the Jubilee Party became 'defunct'.
Full details of Raila and Uhuru's visit are yet to be established with the media barred from covering the event. The sighting of Kenya Air Force choppers was the clearest indication of the visit.
The President was expected to touch down in Kisumu at around 10 a.m. but he ended up arriving at around 1 p.m. with the official opening of the port yet to be announced.
According to unconfirmed reports, Raila was not part of the tour as last-minute changes were made with Uhuru instead touring the city with Chief of Kenya Defense Forces Robert Kibochi.
