President Uhuru Kenyatta got frustrated on Monday, August 31, after an international official by the name Hubert Perr interrupted his speech twice during a virtual conference.

The president was speaking during the Covid-19 Virtual Conference with relevant stakeholders across the country.

As he was in the middle of his speech, Perr, the Head of European Cooperation to Kenya, was heard speaking to someone else in the background.

"We will make sure that our country is ready for any terror or any disaster..."he stated before he was interrupted.

In a muffled voice, Perr stated, "On Sunday we went for..."

In response, Uhuru stated, "Thank you.. I am finishing if that is what your problem is."

However, Perr, who might not have switched off his microphone, went on with the conversation asking; "Which place are you going?"

A little frustrated, Uhuru asked; "Who am I talking to? a Hubert Perr somebody, nyamaza kidogo nimalize ile nasema (Keep quiet and allow me to finish what I am saying)

During the speech, the president directed the Ministry of Health to table all the tenders procured by Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) for transparency purposes.

"I also hereby direct that the Ministry of Health within the next 30 days must come up with a transparent, open method and mechanism through which all tenders and procurement done by KEMSA are available online so that we can see who has been awarded a tender," Uhuru stated.

He added that the process would make the public aware on who was awarded a tender, the value of the tender, what the tender was for and how it was evaluated.

The process, the head of state noted,  would incorporate all government departments, both at national and county level.
