In their quest to inform, educate and entertain, journalists are faced with a number of hurdles, some of which cannot be salvaged before they are caught live on camera.
On our Kenyan TV screens, some of these moments have given internet users a field day with the creation of hilarious memes while others showing concern over some incidences.
Here are a number of incidences that happened on live TV and had Kenyans talking;
NTV Anchor Leaves Show Midway
NTV's Edmond Nyabola had to step aside from the 9 pm News over a cold that had overwhelmed him in July 2019.
In an announcement just 18 minutes into the bulletin, the eloquent anchor relayed that he was unable to continue with the news and handed over to his colleague Mark Masai.
"Unfortunately, I'm not able to continue with NTV Weekend tonight so Mark Masai will be coming with the rest of the broadcast," announced Nyabola.
JKLive interview cut short
JKLive show host Jeff Koinange had to cut short an interview with Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
At the time, Sonko and the Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris had engaged in a public spat and the governor was defending himself against accusations that had been levelled against him.
He exposed text messages and audio conversations between him and Passaris and Jeff tried to change the direction of the discussion by raising Sonko's development record but the irritated governor was adamant.
After the show went on commercial break, Jeff revealed that due to editorial policies and quality controls, the interview had to be cut short.
K24 Anchor Experiences Labour Scare During Show
In June 2019, former K24 Swahili presenter Isabella Kituri also took the audience by surprise after she experienced a labour scare right in the middle of presenting news.
The incident happened during the 7 pm bulletin forcing her co-anchor Franklin Wambugu to abruptly call for a short commercial break.
Isabella would later explain that what she experienced were false labour contractions.
Citizen TV anchor's bad cold.
In December 2019, internet users sympathised Citizen TV anchor Yvonne Okwara, who was struggling to do the prime time bulletin.
Yvonne, who had a cold, was determined to do the news but almost lost her voice at some point during the bulletin.
"I saw Yvonne struggle with her voice almost going off then on. At one time I thought she was not going to see the news off. She made it by sheer determination," an internet user stated.
Guest turns up for interview drunk
In 2014, it was rumoured that political analyst Tony Gachoka turned up for the JKL show while drunk.
Gachoka was too lively, leading a section of Kenyans to believe that he was under the influence of alcohol.
"Give Tony Gachoka a break. He is like any average Kenyan trying to hold an intelligent conversation at 10 pm. We would all sound like him!" political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi stated.
