Covid-19 Deaths Rise to 725

Kenya has recorded 210 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours as the country's total caseload rises to 38,923.

In a statement sent to newsrooms on Friday, October 2, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 3,065 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 555,711.

Of the positive cases, all are Kenyans except five who are foreigners.

141 are male and 69 are female while the youngest case is five-years-old and the oldest is aged 95.

At the same time, 91 patients were discharged 77 from the home-based care program and 14 from the hospital around the country bringing the total number of recoveries to 26,114.

Regrettably, seven patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 725.

In the county distribution, Nakuru county led with 75 cases, Nairobi 37, Mombasa 15, Trans Nzoia 13, Kakamega 11, Kilifi 8, Uasin Gishu 8, Kisumu 7, Kiambu 7, Machakos 7, Bungoma 5, Kisii 3, Elgeyo Marakwet 2 and Nandi 2.

Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Meru, Murang'a, Kericho, Baringo, Laikipia, Embu, Vihiga and Narok counties recorded one case each.

The cases in Nakuru county were reported in Naivasha (23), Nakuru East (22), Nakuru West (16), Subukia (9), Rongai (3) and Nakuru North (2). 

In Nairobi county the 37 cases were reported from Westlands (9), Dagoretti North and Lang'ata had five cases each, Embakasi East and Starehe (3) cases each, Embakasi South, Kibra and Makadara (2) cases each, Dagoretti South, Kamukunji, Roysambu and Ruaraka (1) case each. 

In Mombasa, the 15 cases were from Mvita (6), Likoni (4), Jomvu (2), Kisauni, Changamwe and Nyali had one case each.
