The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Friday, October 2, announced new fuel prices across the country.
The authority announced that it had recalculated the maximum wholesale prices of petroleum products taking into account the revised Excise Duty rates from October 3, 2020 to October 14, 2020.
The pump price for Super petrol in Nairobi increases by Ksh 1.12 while that of Diesel and Kerosene increases by Ksh 0.58 per litre respectively.
Super petrol will retail at 106.55, diesel at 95.09 and kerosene at 83.73 in Nairobi.
In Mombasa County, super petrol will go for 104.18 while automotive diesel goes or 92.73 and Kerosene for 51.37 while in Nakuru super petrol will go for 106.26 while automotive diesel goes for 95.02 and Kerosene for 83.69.
On the other hand, super petrol in Eldoret will go for 107.18, automotive diesel for 95.94 and kerosene for 84.61.
"Pursuant to Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has adjusted upwards the Excise Duty on Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene after taking into account the average inflation rate of 4.94% for the financial year 2019/2020," reads a part of the statement.
In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019, Legal Notice No. 196 of 2010 and Legal Notice No. 26 of 2012, EPRA calculates the maximum wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products.
The previous month's review also saw fuel prices rise with petrol, diesel and kerosene retailing at Ksh105.43, Ksh94.51 and Ksh83.15 respectively in Nairobi and Ksh103.05, Ksh92.15 and Ksh80.78 in Mombasa.
The new prices shall be effective from October 14, 2020 to November 14, 2020.
Earlier in August 2020, Mueni Mutunga was installed at EPRAs Director General in acting capacity by the board replacing Pavel Oimeke.
