Celestine Mulwa, a mother of 3, was left in a desolate state after her first born son, Jacob Akoyo, was run over by a rogue driver.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, she revealed that the accident occurred around the Kinungi area on September 24, as Akoyo was on his way to register his boda boda Sacco.

"I got the call and was informed that he had been rushed to Kijabe Hospital by the driver of the Toyota Noah that ran over him," she narrated.

She was on her way to Kijabe at first light the next day after being informed that her son had sustained serious injuries.

She would arrive at the hospital only to find her son in bad state and the said driver gone without a trace.

The next two days were pure agony for the mother as her son who was bleeding into his brain, was constantly in and out of the hospital's ICU room.

Two days later, a blood clot in his leg resulted in his death, leaving the mother as well as his young family; wife and 4 children (eldest being a 3-year-old and the youngest barely 5 months old) in a state of grief.

"I don't know who to turn to," Akoyo's widow revealed to Kenyans.co.ke, "He was my rock".

The late Akoyo's body has been stuck in the morgue since, with the bill reaching Ksh 957,000 by Wednesday, October 7.

Akoyo's mother went on to reveal that all her attempts to track down the rogue driver have been unsuccessful. She has since reached out to activist Boniface Mwangi in a bid to find justice for her late son.

According to National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the country had recorded 3572 fatalities, 6938 serious injuries and 5186 slight injuries as at December 2019.
