Former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi on Thursday, October 8, snapped at former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale during an interview on live TV.
At the start of the interview on K24 TV, Khalwale stated that he was happy to share a platform with Elachi, who was currently jobless, following her resignation on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
"I am happy to be in the same panel with Beatrice Elachi who is jobless," Khalwale stated.
In a sharp response, however, Elachi told off the former senator, saying he himself had been jobless for three years having lost the Kakamega gubernatorial seat in 2017.
"Between me and you who is jobless. I resigned, but for you, you were denied votes," Elachi stated.
Khalwale lost the election to the incumbent governor Wycliffe Oparanya who garnered 370,855 votes against Khalwale's 130,043 votes in 2017.
In the interview, Elachi also called out Khalwale for indicating that Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe and Secretary General Raphael Tuju were at the center stage of the party's wrangles.
"Boni should know that Tuju is the SG of the party and he has a mandate, the only time we can solve the issues in Jubilee is to follow the constitution of the party," she stated.
Elachi stated that wrangles were rarely witnessed in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party because it's members believed in the party's ideologies.
"The fight in jubilee is a fight in business, that is why ODM runs a party clearly knowing that it is a party because they do not mix private business with political party," Elachi stated.
On his part, Khalwale was of the opinion that the ODM party also engaged in search politics.
"That is why their leader went into the so called handshake, it was a business venture," Khalwale stated.
