A section of legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday, October 13, threatened to report Police IG Hillary Mutyambai to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Hague, Netherlands.

The legislators led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah, noted that IG Mutyambai should answer for the chaos that was experienced at Kenol, Murang'a earlier in October that saw two people lose their lives.

"IG Mutyambai, the ICC is beckoning, you will answer for the deaths at Kenol and any other Kenyan that will die from violence.

"Those misusing you now did the same to Ali before you and he ended up in ICC. Under your watch IG, people were poisoned in Kikuyu, people were evicted, all these are crimes against humanity,” the legislator accused.

He further faulted the IG over the teargassing of a church in Murang'a which the DP was scheduled to attend.

“The Public Order Act is not consistent with 2010 constitution…It is not legal, Bwana IG you have no power to deny anyone permission to assemble,” he added.

Echoing his sentiments, was Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who called for the police to be held responsible for the chaos.

"Uhuru hangekuwa rais kama sio Ruto, na hiyo kila mtu ata watoto wanajua…Wale waliunda serikali sasa wako nje, hiyo hatuwezi kubali (Uhuru Kenyatta would not be president were it not for DP Ruto and everyone knows that. Those who made the government are not part of it anymore)" he spoke.

On his part, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, alleged that the chaos at Kenol was state-sponsored.

“Kenyans are peaceful, and the only way people can come and throw stones if they have not been paid and assured of security by the government. we saw the police side with those behind the chaos," Nyoro stated.

In an earlier event, DP William Ruto condemned the action by police as he faulted them for disrupting some meetings while allowing others to go on uninterrupted.

“It is unfortunate that police cordoned off the venues of Kakamega church functions last weekend while allowing others to go on uninterrupted," he stated.
