4 Family Members Perish in Road Crash

Four members of the same family have died in a road accident on the evening of Tuesday, October 13, 2020. 

According to authorities, the road crash involving a trailer and private car, happened along Ahero-Isebania Road at Kadongo Market. 

Six survivors are currently admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Residents of these areas have been appealing to the contractor to erect temporary bumps on the road.

Police say that over speeding and drunk driving are the biggest causes of accidents in the area. 

The National Police Service in collaboration with NTSA, recently announced that it would carry out operations on major roads in the country in an effort to curb road accidents.

On the first weekend of October, 60 people lost their lives in accidents linked to over speeding and drunk driving.

According to the latest report released by NTSA, 2,689 persons had lost their lives between January 1 and September 30, 2020, compared to the same period last year where 2,655 lives were lost which translates to an increase of 1.3%.

During the same period, motor cyclists and pillion passengers deaths increased by 44.94% and 19.44% respectively.

The Isebania - Ahero Road is a new road constructed as part of President Uhuru Kenyatta's effort to improve connectivity in the region. 

The highway links Kenya to Tanzania and South Sudan from Mau Summit through Narok. 

Its construction cost Ksh18 billion and was supervised by KeNHA.

The cost was funded by the Government of Kenya and the African Development Bank.
