Police Arrest 3 Suspects In Connection With Rape & Murder of Housemaid

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 36-year-old man and two other suspects in connection with rape, defilement and murder incident in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

The three suspects were arrested after they were positively identified by the police from the CCTV footage that emerged showing them entering the house in Membley estate on October 16, where a 12-year-old girl was defiled and a house girl raped and killed.

The suspects were identified as 36-year-old Levy Abubakara, 43-year-old Zablon Kariuki Maungu and 40-year-old David Abungana.

“On October 16, the suspect was seen entering the said house at Membley area in Ruiru Sub-County together with others and subsequently defiling a 12-year-old child and raping the house girl.

“Levy was arrested following an incident where he was captured on CCTV footage together with others, entering a house and subsequently raping the house girl and defiling a 12-years-old child,” the DCI said on Tuesday morning, October 20.

The DCI further added that the suspects also tortured the housemaid before raping and killing her.

They are said to have tied the legs of the housemaid with sisal strings before stuffing her mouth with socks and strangling her with a piece of cloth to death.

“Further, they tied both their legs and hands with sisal strings before murdering the house girl by stuffing her mouth with socks and strangling her using a cloth,” the DCI added.

The three suspects are in lawful custody and will be arraigned in court on Wednesday, October 21.
