The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, November 11, published two images of wanted suspected criminals in Nairobi County.
In the advertisement that appeared in leading dailies, the agency disclosed that they had obtained a warrant of arrest from a chief magistrate on October 16, 2020.
The suspects, Gerald Gatheru Mwai and Gladys Mwara Kamau are accused of engaging in various banking fraud incidents in the city.
The agency further urged Kenyans to furnish police officers with information that may lead to the arrest of the two individuals.
"Wanted persons in connection with banking fraud offenses.
"The underlisted suspects, Gerald Gatheru Mwai and Gladys Mwara Kamau are wanted by DCI pursuant to a warrant of arrest issued by Chief Magistrate Court Milimani on 16th October, 2020," read the statement in part.
"Any person with information that may lead to their arrest to contact DCI Headquarters section, the nearest Police station," added DCI.
Banking fraud offenses appear to be on the rise across the country after the DCI made several arrests including a group of university students.
Towards the end of October, two Information and Technology (IT) students from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) were arrested after allegedly hacking a bank and attempting to steal Ksh 215.1 million shillings.
On Monday, October 26, the duo (one male and female) were charged with theft and conspiracy to defraud one of Kenya's top banks.
The students reportedly stole Ksh 24.4 million and attempted to move another Ksh 190.7 million before the local bank caught wind of their action.
