Residents of Lang'ata were on Wednesday, November 11, stunned after a warthog strayed into a mini-supermarket in the area.
The wild animal caused a commotion as it ran around, ploughing through items and knocking them off the counters. The incident forced shoppers to temporarily halt their activities to catch a glimpse of the animal. Others, however, ran for safety.

The shoppers did not harm the creature but instead called the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) officers to safely take it away.
The officers darted the animal with a tranquilizer before carrying it into an awaiting pick up as anxious shoppers took videos and pictures of the rescue. The warthog was later released into the wild.
Incidences of wild animals straying into residential areas though rare, do occur especially in areas bordering the Nairobi National Park that is home to diverse wildlife.
In November 2019, a hyena was spotted strolling past a residential area in Lang'ata, prompting the KWS to take action.
“We took note of this and alerted our team. In case of further wildlife sighting, we request that you call our toll free line, 0800597000 for records and follow up," the body stated.
A month earlier, three grown lions were spotted on the outskirts of Rongai town, sparking fear among the residents.
The big cats were later returned to the park much to the relief of the anxious residents.
It is recommended that if you spot a wild animal, the first thing is to remain calm and access the situation for you to get away safely.
Different animals attack for several reasons and once should not agitate the animal. Call the authorities to safely take it away.
