The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has extended the deadline for schools to submit their National Exam results, conducted days after the resumption of learning.

In a circular seen by Kenyans.co.ke sent to all headteachers, KNEC announced that the deadline for uploading the scores has been extended to Friday, November 20, 2020.

KNEC also acknowledged that the tabulation of results has been marred by challenges, with a number of schools yet to submit their grades back to the council.

"The Kenya National Examinations Council wishes to thank all headteachers and teachers of the significant proportion of schools who have successfully uploaded the assessment scores, as well as those who are still uploading the scores.

"It has, however, come to the attention of KNEC that the uploading exercise has been faced with challenges, which have slowed the process of uploading," read part of the circular.

In order to ensure effective capture of all scores and allow for reliable reporting, KNEC has issued schools with a number of directives.

Schools will now be required to upload the dully filled excel file, that was downloaded from the KNEC system, without real-time processing of scores.

Upon successful uploading, an auto message will be sent to the schools informing them that 'processing shall be done within two weeks'.

Schools which may have challenges in uploading the file without real-time processing of scores, will attach the dully filled excel file downloaded from the KNEC system, and send to the KNEC e-mail address.

The file will then be processed within two weeks and feedback shall be given to schools by the council.

The exams had a number of challenges as Headteachers from various schools complained that they were yet to receive funds to aid them in carrying out the test.

KNEC on Thursday, October 15 pushed forward the Grade 4 and Class 8 assessment tests due to the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
