Radio presenter Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has said he has had enough of artists who have been gifting him with drawings or paintings.

In a long post on his Instagram page, the radio presenter announced that he would no longer be receiving such gifts because his home and office had run out of room to display them.

He was concerned that the pieces of art were wasting away and getting spoilt due to poor storage.

“I have to now request any artist trying to draw me to please stop! I will not accept your art because I have nowhere to take it or hang it!

“For the past five years I have received hundreds of portraits from different artists and the pieces are getting spoiled because I don't have anywhere to hang them. My house is full, my office is full and it hurts me to see your hard-earned work just go to waste!” he stated.

The comedian explained that he was ready to support artists’ work even without them having to draw him.

Artists in Kenya are known to gift personalities with portraits of drawings and paintings. One of the more popular artists famed for the trade is Sheila Sheldon, an 11-year-old painter, designer and singer.

She has been recognised by American TV host  Ellen Degeneres, Rwanda President Paul Kagame, Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni, President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

Another artist, Collins Omondi Okello also received recognition from international comedian Steve Harvey after Jalang'o shared his drawing on his Instagram and challenged online users to make 1,000 comments that would compel Harvey to comment on the piece of art.

In 2014 Collins presented Kenyatta with a portrait at State House to mark the head of state’s 53rd birthday.

He later commissioned the artist to draw a portrait of former US President Barack Obama and his family.

South Sudan President John Garang, Oscar awarding actress Lupita Nyong’o and media personality Jeff Koinange are all part of his impressive portfolio.
