He noted that the daughter had asked to accompany her mother to a village ceremony, but was instead told to stay at home and herd the cattle.

“I didn’t believe my eyes when I saw her dangling inside the kitchen after searching for her in all the rooms.

“I touched her heart and noticed she was no more,” the distressed father spoke to a local media house.

The father said that his daughter had brought the family immense joy after passing her 2019 KCPE exams.

“I have lost my best friend, a bright girl who made us proud when she scored 351 marks at Lingawai Primary School. It’s really painful to lose her,” the father stated.

The distraught father reported the matter to Kondoo police station. Kesses police boss Cicilia Kemboi noted that investigations had been launched to probe the suicide case.

“We cannot give you a true picture of what happened to the girl because nobody was with her, but we have already launched investigations which we expect will lead us in the right direction,” Kemboi stated.

Her body was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting postmortem.

Suicide cases have been on the rise especially during the Covid-19 pandemic period.

A recent survey by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) noted that 196 suicide cases had been reported last year.
