Kiambu Taxi Driver Found Dead After Business Trip

  • A taxi driver based in Kiambu who had been missing for a week has been found dead in mysterious circumstances.

    The family of the man identified as Peter Gitau Mburu, 38, reported that they last communicated with the deceased on December 8, 2020, when he was transporting some clients to Nyahururu.

    They were, however, unable to reach him the following day and reported the matter to the police.

    From there, his phone signal was traced to two different locations, Gatimu near Nyahururu and later Bibilion in Limuru.

    They were however unable to reach him the following day and reported the matter to the police.

    From there, his phone signal was traced to two different locations, Gatimu near Nyahururu and later Bibilion in Limuru.

    The father of three is claimed to have called a friend at Gilgil with the possibility of sleeping over as he headed back to Kiambu.

    Hi wife, Mercy Nyeri, stated that she last communicated to the deceased on the night of his disappearance updating her on his whereabouts.

    “At around 11:30 pm, I called him and he informed me that he was approaching Nyahururu. But when I called him the following morning his phone was out of reach,” she recalled.

    Gitau's brother, George Njoroge stated that they carried out a search for him which ended at Nyahururu county referral hospital mortuary.

    There, they were informed that his body was recovered at Kanyuka dam in Ng'arua which is at the border of Laikipia and Baringo counties.

    A post mortem conducted on the body on Monday, December 14, revealed that the deceased had been hit three times on the head using a blunt object.

    The wife called for investigations into her husband's murder and the culprits to be brought to book.
