Police Constable Sprays Bullets on Friend in Westlands

A police constable was on Tuesday, December 29 evening, arrested after shooting his friend in Nairobi's Westlands area.

The officer who is based at Gigiri's Nyari Police Patrol Base is alleged to have shot his companion with whom he was chewing miraa.

"With an AK47 rifle, the officer had been deployed as a station guard moments before he was joined by his regular friend, and who frequents at the patrol base located in Nairobi's Westlands area," a statement from the DCI disclosed.

Hours after, a blast of shots was heard where the two were located.

The officer-in-charge at the base rushed to the scene to find out what was happening and found the lifeless body of the victim at the driver's seat of his Toyota Probox.

Preliminary investigations showed that the officer fired 10 rounds of ammunition in the incident.

The officer turned murder-suspect was disarmed and arrested.

Detectives have launched investigations to establish the motive of the shooting by the constable.

In a separate incident, on Tuesday, December 29, police gunned down two armed and dangerous criminals.

The suspects are said to have snatched a firearm from an officer who was on duty, the previous evening.

"Also recovered from the second suspect was a Jericho Pistol. DCI thanks members of the public who volunteered information and helped our officers in identifying the suspects," the officers shared.
