The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) has announced 240 vacancies with salaries up to Ksh 34,000. These jobs mainly target applicants with KCSE mean grades of D plain and above.
All jobs are offered on a 2-year contract, with medical insurance as provided by the government.
Clerical Officer II - 38 Posts
Salary Scale: Ksh 16,890 - 20,800 per month (CSG 14), Job Group F).
House Allowance: Ksh 4,500 per month.
Commuter: Ksh 3,000 per month.
Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C Plain or its approved equivalent.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and integrity in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Compiling statistical records.
- Sorting out letters and filing them.
- Dispatching letters and maintaining an efficient filing system.
- Processing appointments, promotions, discipline cases.
- Preparing payment vouchers; computation of financial or statistical records.
- Compiling data and drafting simple letters.

Duties and Responsibilities
- General messenger duties
- General cleaning and other support services
Ambulance Driver - 15 Posts
Salary Scale: Ksh 15,670 - 17,570 per month.
House Allowance: Ksh 4,500 per month.
Commuter: Ksh 3,000.
Qualifications
- KCSE mean grade D plain.
- Valid driving licence free from any current endorsement(s).
- 3 years of driving experience as an ambulance driver.
- Attended a first-aid certificate course lasting not less than 1 week at St John’s Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBIT).
- A valid certificate of good conduct from Kenya Police.
- Demonstrate outstanding professional competence and integrity in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving ambulance vehicles as authorised.
- Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle system.
- Maintenance of work ticket for the assigned vehicle.
Plant Operators - 30 posts
Salary Scale: Ksh 25,470 - 33,950.
House Allowance: Ksh 6,750.
Commuter: Ksh 4,000.
Qualifications.
- KCSE mean grade D Plain.
- Valid driving licence free from any current endorsement (s) for relevant class (es)
- Passed Occupational Trade Test I for Plant Operators.
- Ability to operate 2 plants of difficult rating A and B.
- Attended a first-aid certificate course lasting not less than 1 week at St John’s Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBIT).
- A minimum 3 years experience in operating any of the following plant/equipment; forklift, motor grade, shovel, excavator, roller or any other.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operating heavy plants of difficult rating A and B
- Keeping records of inventory of all plants in a project/unit
- Formulating and administering working techniques
- Assisting in costing and evaluating small roads and accesses
- Assisting in training plant operators

- Driving the assigned vehicles
- Ensure the safety of the passengers and goods therein; and
- Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicles
