A family in Muyaboge, Lamu County has appealed to the National Government and local authorities to aid in the tracing of four brothers who went missing.
Mzee Omar has lived in panic after his four sons disappeared six months ago under what he termed as unclear circumstances.
"Idriss was taken away, I don't know if he is in prison or they have killed him. This matter is disturbing and leaves me with a very heavy heart," Omar stated.
Two of his sons Mohammed and Ali Omar disappeared without a trace. Another, Idriss Omar was abducted by unknown persons who had raided their home.
"They came and parked their vehicle close to my house. They were there for about twenty minutes. They bound his eyes and took him away," Mzee Omar added.
Since the disappearances, Mzee Omar and his remaining family have been forced to move to a new location for fear of a similar incident happening again.
The incidents, they say, may have resulted from previous cases the family has been involved in. Their sister, Khadija Omar, revealed that the said abductors had threatened her and their family before.
"They came and told me that I was helping my brothers and that I did not want to leave home because of them. I told them I won't leave, and if they want me to, they should get me a place to go," Khadia stated.
Over the recent months, the area has experienced its fair share of scares with the brutal murder of area chief Mohammed Farmaajo and deputy chief Malik Athuman.
Haki Africa has since intervened in helping the family trace their sons, offering mental and legal support in the process.
"We are assuring them that agencies from the national government and we at Haki Africa are there for them. We will help them in the process,and when they return, we will represent them in court," an official from Haki Africa stated.
Mzee Omar has expressed his worry in the bid to find his sons and is afraid to join them in the list of missing persons.
Lamu County has in the recent past experienced a number of cases in which families have reported their kin as missing, some in the hands of security agencies, and some to extremist group Al Shabaab.
