Abel Amunga, the father of gospel musician Ruth Matete, has opened up on allegations leveled against her daughter in April last year following the death of Matete's husband BelovedJohn Apewajoye in April 2019.
Apewajoye's manager, Jesse McJessy, had accused Matete of covering up her husband's death and claimed that she was violent.
Speaking on Radio Jambo during an interview, Amunga dispelled the rumours saying that the couple were having the usual disagreements.
"The manager was staying with the couple even before they got married. It at this time that he recorded the video of the two arguing.
"If at all my daughter was as abusive as he claimed she was, he would not have taken any part in the wedding. However, he attended the wedding and was dancing with the couple," he stated.
Amunga stated that he did not understand what intentions McJessy had when he shared the video publicly.
Matete's husband had been in the intensive care unit for a number of weeks before he succumbed to burn injuries sustained after a gas explosion at their home in Great Wall Gardens, Athi River.
"My daughter contacted me and asked to meet at the Kenyatta National Hospital and said that she needed help with filling paperwork at the hospital.
"When I got there, I found her crying and I knew that he was no more," he added.
Autopsy results released on April 23, 2020, debunked claims that Matete, a former Tusker Project Fame winner, killed her husband.
The report detailed that Apewajoye died from complications including sepsis, multiple organ failure after suffering 60 percent burns.
