The media fraternity is in mourning following the death of former Capital FM Presenter Jack Ojiambo who died on Saturday, February 20.
Ojiambo hosted the infamous Jazz club show from its onset in 1996 till May 2013 when he announced his departure from the famed station. Kenyans, most of them in the media industry took to social media to mourn the passing of the veteran journalist.
"Rest In Peace Jack Ojiambo... I dare say that no radio presenter in East and Central Africa influenced as many people to listen to Jazz Music as you did. Your magic together with your multiple talents have left an indelible mark. Unforgettable modern radio legend," Classic 105 Radio Presenter Maina Kageni stated.
"Rest in Peace Jack Ojiambo, you touched my life in an incredible way... May you rest in peace.
"Gone too soon. Former Capital Fm Jazz Presenter Jack Ojiambo has passed on.
"Was his fan for over 10 years. And his must have been the longest stint at one station, same show in Kenya. Go well Jack Ojiambo.
"Oh no! His Jazz Show on Sunday evenings really made those high school holidays and early campus days glide by," read some of the comments.
Details that led to Ojiambo's demise have not yet been disclosed. The media presenter was the son of the late Hillary Ojiambo and Mama Julia Ojiambo. He has left behind a daughter, Holly Ojiambo.
A spot check on his social media pages reveal Ojiambo's love for Jazz music as he would share links to timeless grooves.
He became synonymous with the Jazz Club as fans were fond of his eloquence and charismatic personality.
Ojiambo who walking out of Chris Kirubi's owned media house after building a huge fan base also ventured into politics and vied for the Dagoretti North seat in the 2017 elections. However, he lost to the incumbent legislator Simba Arati.
