Deputy President William Ruto on Friday, March 12, referenced his past working relationship with ODM Leader Raila Odinga, saying the former Premier had not held any seat since the two worked together in 2007.

Speaking to residents of Busia County, the DP boasted of having helped Odinga become the Prime Minister in 2007 to a point where he was taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague.

"Ain't I the one who pushed 'Agwambo' in 2007 until he became the Prime Minister?" Ruto posed before he continued saying, "While I was at the ICC, the person I was fighting for did not even come to visit me."

In addition, the DP took a swipe at Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula, whom he stated had not helped Odinga much in his political career.

"These leaders have reduced Odinga to a person who just loiters around. Are they not useless people?" he questioned.

At the same time, the DP stated that he had also helped President Uhuru Kenyatta get elected both in 2013 and twice in 2017 due to the repeat election.

He cautioned the two leaders against inciting people while he had been at the forefront in helping them in their political careers.

"It should not turn out that I was only a very good person when I supported them to get those positions in government. When my turn comes, they incite the public against me. I want them to appreciate the support that I gave them," the DP stated.

Ruto added that he was ready to compete even with those opposed to his presidential bid.

"I want them to know that I am prepared and determined to lead the hustlers," he added.
