Sunday, March 14: Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has been discharged from the Nairobi Hospital.

Taking to his social media account, Raila shared a video of him performing physical exercises while talking to his daughter Winnie Odinga.

"I'm feeling wonderful. It's so nice to be back home, I was in a prison back there.

"Even though I'm still in isolation, I can now see the beautiful outdoors and nature," Raila stated.

Raila had been admitted at Nairobi Hospital on Monday, March 8 and later tested positive for Covid-19.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's personal physician Oluoch Olunya has revealed the reason why Raila went public with his Covid-19 test results after being admitted to Nairobi Hospital.

Speaking to Nation, Olunya noted that Raila gained courage from international leaders such as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former US President Donald Trump who both had their test results made public.

"He ordered that his results be made public and be accompanied with a personal statement to Kenyans that Covid-19 is real and they need to listen to what the government is saying," Dr. Olunya stated.

Olunya's sentiments were echoed by Raila's spokesman Dennis Onyango who stated that the ODM leader's decision to go public with his Covid-19 test results has helped and should be emulated by all leaders.

Olunya also entailed that Raila is responding well to medication and needs a lot of rest. The news comes as Raila was admitted to Nairobi Hospital on Monday, March 8 after complaining of fatigue.

This led to numerous tests conducted by a team of doctors led by Olunya who later revealed the following day that the former Prime Minister had tested positive for Covid-19.

Olunya, however, did not disclose when the politician would be discharged, but assured Kenyans that Raila was well on his way to full recovery.

Further, a statement released by the ODM party leader entailed his thoughts on the immense support shown by his fans and leaders alike.

"I wish to assure fellow Kenyans and my friends across the world that thanks to their prayers and encouragement, I am out of danger, but I will continue observing the recommendations of my doctors for as long as necessary.

"I am strong and inspired because of your prayers, support, and encouragement," he said.

Prior to his admission in hospital, Raila had been on an intense campaign trail for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). This saw the party leader tour the Coastal region with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Several associates and political allies have since either gone to isolation or gone for Covid-19 tests. Among these include Raila's family who tested negative for Covid-19.
