Inside Nairobi Hospital's Bullet Proof VVIP Rooms [PHOTOS]

Over the years, the Nairobi Hospital has hosted some of the most powerful individuals, not only in Kenya, but also in Africa.

From the main gate, the establishment may look quite small but a walk or drive inside shows a quite sizeable hospital, which offers numerous services.

The executive and VIP wards are located in the South and North Wings. The North Wing, in particular, has three floors with each having a presidential suite.

For one to spend a night in the suite, they have to cough up at least Ksh99,000 which only caters for the room service. The suite is fitted with a lounge, a guest room, patient room, which are all bullet proof.

There are 12 other rooms encompassed in the North wing. Each of these have a guest lounge and the charges depend on the size of the room. The minimum nightly price, however, goes for Ksh40,000. This is before the medical services are billed. 

The patients get to decide what they want to eat and some may be allowed to have their own chefs take their orders.

The rooms also have a balcony where one can relax and have a look at the breath taking gardens. They are also fitted with internet ports which they can use to keep abreast with the current happenings.

The rooms in the South wing is a downscaled VIP wing which has ensuite rooms. The rooms go for Ksh25,000 and are mostly preferred by MPs and other mid-level VIPs.

The comfort and luxury accommodation service is one of the perks that attract VIPs to the facility. The hospital management is also keen on their patient's privacy with some top honchos being booked under aliases to protect their stay from leaking to the public. 

Currently, ODM leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is admitted at the hospital where he has been recuperating since he was admitted on Tuesday, March 9. There were also rumors that Tanzania President John Magufuli could have been at the hospital earlier during the week.

Former Somalia President Ali Mahdi Muhammad died at the hospital on Wednesday, March 10.

Other VIPs who have previously sought services from the facility include; former president Mwai Kibaki, Late President Daniel arap Moi, Tanzanian opposition leader Tindu Lissu, Ugandan opposition politician and Dr Kizza Besigye.

The Nairobi Hospital is owned  by a private company called the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA) limited by guarantee whose profits are ploughed back to the facility.

The hospital has no share capital and anyone can become a shareholder by paying an entry fee of Sh10,000, plus an annual subscription fee.

Some of the prominent members of the KHA include; former cabinet minister Charles Njonjo, Zahra Moi, Dr Joseph Aluoch  (prominent physician and husband to Justice Joyce Aluoch).
