KDF Soldiers Involved in Grisly Road Accident

Three Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) officers were involved in a grisly road accident that left the officers sustaining serious injuries. 

Three civilians who were riding with them also sustained minor injuries in the accident. In total, the KDF soldiers who had attended a funeral in Nyamira County, on Saturday, March 13 were nine, as confirmed by the county commissioner, Amos Mariba. 

The accident occurred near Bonyunyu area along Nyamira-Miruka road.

The victims were headed back to Nairobi when the accident occurred. According to Mariba, the accident occurred after the brakes of the bus ferrying the victims failed, and the driver lost control.

The bus then hit a pavement and rolled off the road.

After being rescued, the three KDF officers were taken for treatment at Nyamira County Referral Hospital. They were later airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment.

The three civilians who had sustained minor injuries were transferred to Kisii referral hospital.

In an unrelated incident, a police vehicle was involved in a grisly road accident while transporting officers in Wajir county on February 3.

The commander of the  Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) in Wajir East Abdi Ali said that six officers were on board at the time of the accident.

The officers sustained injuries of different degrees, with some reporting head injuries while others reported leg and hand fractures. They were taken to Wajir Referral Hospital for treatment.
