Officers in the vehicle sustained injuries of varying degrees with some reporting head injuries, leg and hand fractures.

The injured officers were taken to Wajir referral hospital for emergency treatment. The vehicle was extensively damaged during the accident and was towed to the police station for inspection.

Incidences of police vehicles being involved in road accidents, though rare, do occur.

In December 2020, a police car in Voi Town rolled moments after picking 46 people who had been arrested for not wearing face masks.

According to the residents, the accident occurred as a result of overspeeding as the police Land Cruiser vehicle veered off the road.

In a separate incident in January 2021, seven Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers were killed in a bomb attack in Southern Somalia, after their vehicle drove over an improvised explosive device (IED).

The incident occurred between Dhobley and Hosingow and the vehicle was heavily damaged in the incident.
