President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Captain Kung’u Muigai has raised concern that some unidentified State House operatives are preventing the arrest of a gang of fraudsters.

Speaking during an interview with Inooro TV on Monday, March 15, he said that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) appeared to have its hands tied.

The suspects are said to be running a parallel organisation to Muigai’s called Kiama Kia Ma and using the outfit to swindle unsuspecting Kenyans out of their hard-earned money.

He explained that the matter was reported to the police who established that the other rival organisation’s certificate was forged.

“The Kiambu County Commissioner reported the same to the DCI. The file was forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions who recommended their arrest and prosecution in May 2020.

“The two have been sued in Kiambu Law Courts five times but every time a phone call is made and they are allowed to walk free. A group from the legitimate organisation visited DCI George Kinoti to enquire about the delay. Kinoti said the DCI received a call from State House and Harambee House stopping the suspects’ prosecution,” Uhuru’s cousin narrated.

He added that the association is seeking an audience with Interior CS Fred Matiang’i in order to get to the bottom of the matter.

“We also want DPP Noordin Haji to explain why his recommendation has not been acted on,” Kung’u added, saying that he had chosen to expose the suspects on TV since other methods were futile.

“We want them to tell us who these State House and Harambe House operatives are because as far as we know there are a lot of people who work there, even sweepers,” he demanded, daring Kinoti to arrest him if the story was false.

Kungu also produced a document which he claimed was authored by the office of the attorney general informed the suspects that their certificate was fake

“I have noted the contents of the forged certificate of registration allegedly issued by this office. The certificate number on the forged certificate belongs to another registered organisation,” the document read in part.

Kungu is a retired KDF captain and patron of various cultural organisation such as the Mt Kenya Council of Elders and the National Council of Elders.
