Brian Ndung'u, the last born son of former Governor Ferdinand Waititu alias Baba Yao, has been on the limelight since Monday, March 15, 2021 since he pleaded guilty to drunk driving on Monday March 15, 2021.
Ndung'u's easy-going nature was captured during his arraignment and it got Kenyans talking.
His striking resemblance to his father as well as carefree attitude is also one that could not have escaped even those without a keen eye.
In fact, some of the Mang'u High School alumnus, who schooled with Ndung'u, told Kenyans.co.ke that he was a likeable, funny and generous character just like his father.
Ndung'u takes after his father when it comes to the world of entrepreneurship. He owns Mowgli Sounds, which provides entertainment systems and public address systems for all events.
Brian, however, loves the party life which contradicts his father's lifestyle. In a previous interview, Waititu stated that he does not take alcohol.
The former Governor's decision to be a teetotaller to follow the teetotaller's path was informed by his drunken father who abandoned him and his siblings when they were very young.
On Monday, Ndung'u was fined Ksh30,000 failure to which he would serve three months after he was caught driving while under the influence of alcohol.
"I contacted my father and told him that I had been fined but he said that I should serve the jail sentence. I will not take an issue with him because he has warned me to stop taking alcohol on several occasions," Ndung'u was heard telling his friend on phone.
Their differences also played out in the kind of upbringing the two have had. While Ndung'u grew up in a life of opulence, the politician was brought up in Kibera slums in extreme poverty.
Waititu graduated from Dagoretti High school in 1981 and proceeded to the Technical University of Kenya (TUK), then Kenya Polytechnic. His academics, however, have been a matter of controversy.
Ndung'u, on the other hand, is a Mang'u High School alumnus and studies law at Strathmore University.
