New details have emerged over the alleged repossession of a school bus donated by Deputy President William to Kianjagi Secondary School in Meru County.

Earlier reports published in media indicated that the bus had been recalled over delayed payments, claims which the bus company, Isuzu East Africa, has refuted.

Isuzu East Africa Communications Manager Duncan Muhindi confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that the initial letter that was widely circulated online was fake, and had not originated from the company.

"The letter indicates that this action was taken because of " delayed payment " during the purchase process. We have noted that the letter's misleading contents also appeared in a story published online by one of the leading daily newspapers," stated Muhindi.

Muhindi disclosed that the school had placed an order for a 46-seater bus in September 2019, with the payment being completed in December 2020.

"Subsequently, a chassis was allocated and bus body fabrication commenced. The bus has recently been completed and number plates issued.

"We expect to make delivery of the bus to the school next week," he added.

DP Ruto had handed over the bus at Kianjai market, on March 6, and even gave students and staff a short ride.

A group of residents claimed the handover of the vehicle to Kianjai Secondary School 10 days ago was a political gimmick.

In response, area MP John Mutunga stated that the school bus had been delivered before works were completed for the DP to inaugurate it.

He further faulted his political opponents for using the bus to fight him and the Deputy President.

“There are people being used to fight me politically. They are insulting me by spreading falsehoods, but the person they are insulting more is Dr. Ruto because they are saying that he has not been honouring his pledges,” the MP was quoted by a local publication.
