Earlier, the president had ordered members of his Cabinet and senior staff in his executive office to take the jabs as a way of encouraging public uptake.

President Kenyatta told his officials to lead by example and get the COVID-19 jab in an effort to ramp up the rollout of the national vaccination program.

Following the order, State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita, Industrialization CS Betty Maina, Public Service CS Margaret Kobia, Defense CS Monica Juma, have all taken the jab.

On his part, West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapou threatened to fire county government employees who will fail to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

According to the governor, those who reject the jab set a bad example to residents of West Pokot.

"I will fire whoever refuses to take the vaccine because I don't see why I should work with people who set a bad example to the people of West Pokot," the governor asserted.
