A German investor, Reiner Hans Hermann Kreplin, has claimed that his life is in danger after his Kenyan fiancé allegedly stole Ksh5.4 million from his private villa at Harbor Key Cottages in Malindi.

According to the 66-year-old, his 24-year old fiancé, Mercy Adhiambo Achieng, allegedly took the Ksh5.4 million from the villa where they lived together and vanished into thin air.

“Not even the security guards at the Harbor Key Cottage saw her going,” Kreplin complained.

He further revealed that since Achieng’s disappearance, he has been receiving threatening messages from anonymous people.

The threatening messages forced him to abandon his home and has been moving from one town to another in fear for his life.

The investor narrated that he had just returned to Kenya with a huge sum of money to purchase another villa and also invest in an irrigation project and a recycling plant in Ganze constituency, Kilifi County.

In September 2020, the German Tycoon said he took Achieng to Zanzibar to celebrate her birthday. However, when they came back he went to take coffee from a restaurant and when he came back she was nowhere to be found.

"After 1 pm, I got suspicious. I waited for two days to lapse to report her missing. I reported the matter to Malindi police station after she went missing. We went with the police to my cottage only to find the suitcase broken into and Sh5.4 Million in foreign currency missing,’’ he said.

Simon Muli, Malindi Sub-County Police commander, advised Hermann to report the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) to track down the 24-year- old woman.

“He should report the matter to the DCI to take it over and action shall be taken against the culprit,’’ he said.

The foreign national sought help at the German Embassy where they advised him to file a case against his former lover but feared it could take long.

Kreplin is now requesting the Kenyan government to come to his aide and protect him.

The investor told the media that he met Achieng as a waitress and fell in love with her. They then moved in together as an advisor and translator on October 29, 2020.
