Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on Thursday, April 1, announced strict security measures ahead of the Easter holidays, which are set to begin tomorrow.

In a press briefing, Mutyambai reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta's cessation of movement orders in the zoned Counties of Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, Kiambu, and Nakuru.

He stated that 33 roadblocks had been erected in all major roads leading into and out of the zoned area and added that they would be manned day and night to ensure total compliance.

The IG cautioned those within the mentioned counties to exercise caution and remain in the area apart from the essential service providers.

"Our operation will be done jointly with the national government administration officers (NGAO), National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Kenya Prisons Service.

"As we speak, the commissioner-general of prisons has released not less than 3,000 officers that the citizens go through this season in a secure and peaceful environment," Mutyambai stated.

He vowed to ensure that the police would enforce law and order in a humane nature.

"We commit to being human. I have already communicated to all the police officers saying that we need to talk to Kenyans saying that the soft power approach is the best approach," he added.

He concluded by asking Kenyans to report any individuals that do not follow the rule of law.
