18 Die as Covid-19 Cases Rise

A total of 911 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 6,045 tested in the last 24 hours with a positivity rate of 15.1%.

The total number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stands at 138,988, while the cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,517, 637.

Of the cases announced today, 880 are Kenyans while 31 are foreigners, while 503 are male and 408 are female. The youngest is a two-year-old-baby while the oldest is 98 years old.

Regrettably, 18 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours 2 of them having occurred in the last 24 hours, 11 in the last one month while 7 are late death reports from facility record audits that occurred on diverse dates. This now pushes our cumulative fatalities to 2,224.

At the same time, 533 patients have recovered from the disease, 420 from the Home Based and Isolation Care, while 113 are from various health facilities. 

The total number of recoveries now stands at 94,183.

Currently, 1,586 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,903 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

198 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit ( ICU ), 43 of whom are on ventilatory support and 125 on supplemental oxygen. 30 patients are on observation.

Another 236 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 222 of them in the general wards and 14 in

the High Dependency Unit ( HDU ) .

In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 536, Kiambu 91, Uasin Gishu 48, Machakos 34, Nakuru 34, Mombasa 27, Kajiado 23, Nyeri 20, Meru 16, Kilifi 11, Garissa 10, Nyandarua 8, Laikipia 6,Kitui 6, Kakamega 6, Taita Taveta 4, Turkana 4, Mandera 4,Bungoma 4, Murang'a 3, Nyamira 3, Baringo 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Kwale 2, Makueni 2, Isiolo 1, Kericho 1, Kirinyaga 1, Kisumu 1 and Nandi 1.

 

In terms of Sub County distribution; In Nairobi the 536 cases are from Lang'ata (63), Kamukunji (46), Kasarani (40), Westlands(38), Starehe (31), Dagoretti North and Mathare (29) cases each, Embakasi South and Kibra (28) cases each, Embakasi North (27), Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, Makadara and Ruaraka (26) cases each, Embakasi East and Roysambu (25) cases each,

Dagoretti South (23). In Kiambu the 91 cases are from Ruiru (21), Thika (16), Lari (12), Kabete (9), Gatundu South, Kiambu Town and Kikuyu (6) cases each, Githunguri (5), Kiambaa (4), Gatundu North and Juja (3) cases each.

 

In Uasin Gishu the 48 cases are from Ainabkoi (22), Kapseret(10), Turbo (5), Moiben and Soy (4) cases each, Kesses (3). InMachakos the 34 cases are from Machakos Town (10), Matungulu(6), Mwala (5), Athi River (4), Kalama (3), Kangundo and Kathiani(2) cases each, Masinga and Yatta (1) case each.

In Nakuru the 34 cases are from Naivasha (9), Nakuru East (6), Nakuru North (5), Gilgil and Nakuru West (4) cases each, Kuresoi South, Rongai and Subukia (2) cases each. In Mombasa the 27 cases are from Jomvu (9), Changamwe (7), Mvita (4), Kisauni (3), Likoni and Nyali (2) cases each. In Kajiado the 23 cases are from Kajiado Central (12), Kajiado East and Kajiado North (5) cases each, Kajiado West (1).

In Nyeri the 20 cases are from Nyeri Central (5), Mathira East (4),

Kieni West (3), Mathira West, Mukurweini and Tetu (2) cases each, Kieni East and Nyeri South (1) case each. In Meru the 16 cases are from Imenti North and Imenti South (7) cases each, lgembe Central and lgembe South (1) case each.

In Kilifi the 11 cases are from Malindi (4), Kilifi North and Magarini(3) cases each, Kaloleni (1). In Garissa the 10 cases are fromGarissa Town. In Nyandarua the 8 cases are from Ndaragwa (3),Kipipiri (2), Kinangop, Oljoroorok and 01 Kalou (1) case each. In Laikipia the 6 cases are from Laikipia East and Laikipia West (3) cases each.

In Kitui the 6 cases are from Mwingi Central (3), Mwingi North (2) and Kitui Central (1). In Kakamega the 6 cases are from Lurambi(4), Mumias West and Shinyalu (1) case each. In Taita Taveta the 4 cases are from Taveta (3) and Mwatate (1).

In Turkana all the 4 cases are from Turkana West. In Mandera the 4 cases are all from Mandera East, while in Bungoma the 4 cases are all from Kanduyi. In Murang'a the 3 cases are from Kandara, Kangema and kiharu (1) case each. In Nyamira the 3 cases are from Manga (2) and Nyamira Town (1). The 2 cases in Baringo are all from Baringo Central, the 2 cases in Elgeyo Marakwet are from Keiyo North and Marakwet West (1) case each, the 2 cases in Kwale are from Matuga and Msambweni (1) case each, and the 2 cases in Makueni are all from Mbooni.

The case in Isiolo is from Isiolo Town, the case in Kericho is from Ainamoi, the case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga East, the case in Kisumu is from Kisumu Central and the case in Nandi is from Emgwen.

VACCINATION: A total of 282,518 people have been vaccinated across the country as of April 3, 2021.
