Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja is one of the most followed young politicians in the country, having entered the political stage in his early 20s.

The opportunity to work in former President Mwai Kibaki’s campaign, helped Senator Sakaja buy his first car while still in university; a Mercedes Benz W140 saloon car.

The car has since been grounded and is parked at his home around Kilimani area in Nairobi.

"We established the Vijana na Kibaki initiative and started mobilising in universities and that is how I bought my first car a green Mercedes Benz," he explained during a past interview.

Senator Sakaja also bought a Mercedes E250 which is one of the stylish saloon cars in the country.

Lexus LX570

Other cars owned by the 'Super Senator' as he is known to Nairobians include a Lexus LX570 SUV which is a favourite among politicians such as Deputy President William Ruto.

SUVs are the preferred choices since they help navigate any terrain as leaders travel to various parts of the country to interact with their constituents.

Its imposing design, weight and 5.7-litre V8 engine (383 horsepower and 403 pound-foot of torque) make it a very fuel-thirsty machine.

Other than the LX570’s intimidating on-road presence, it also has a front grille that looks ready to inhale anything on its path.

Sakaja's white Lexus made headlines in 2018 when the senator used it to chauffer a couple during their wedding. He has since changed from white to grey.

Range Rover Vogue

The Range Rover Vogue is the entry-level model of Land Rover's flagship lineup, but it offers the same level of comfort and sophistication as its more luxurious successors.

It was first among the 3rd generation of Range Rovers.

Unlike other SUVs, the Range Rover Vogue offers an impressively quiet drive and its smooth eight-speed automatic transmission adds to a comfortable driving experience.

Despite the car being an older model of the Land Rover franchise, its price is still higher than the latest models of other SUV cars.

Volkswagen Touareg

The Volkswagen Touareg has developed into an upmarket SUV capable of competing with luxury competitors in terms of production and comfort.

Although it isn't the most stylish vehicle in its category a Toureg is still an excellent all-arounder.

The car has high-tech addition which includes Traffic Jam Assist and Cross Traffic Assist, as well as Proactive Occupant Protection, which closes the windows and pre-tightens the seatbelts if it senses an impending collision.
