ODM leader Raila Odinga on Thursday, April 22, expressed his gratitude after two young men visited him at his home with a pair of sneakers.

The former Prime Minister noted that contrary to other visitors he had welcomed to his house in recent days, the two had opted to bring him pairs of shoes rather than the usual goats.

"No its not a goat, but these young gentlemen thought it would be nice for me to have a fresh pair of sneakers! We chatted, Ali opened his fast and a generally good evening with good company. Hongera boys!" he stated.

The two young men are founders of Thrifty Trendy, a shop that deals with second-hand clothes located at Imenti House in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

"Got a chance to meet Hon Raila Omollo Odinga and showcased our outfits to him and talked about the future," the youth expressed on social media.

Odinga, who has been recuperating at his home after battling Covid-19, has had quite a number of visitors he has hosted in his home recently.

Most of them including; Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and acting Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu Mwenda visited Odinga with goats.

Although goats are a treasured gift in African traditions, some of the young Kenyans found it amusing and turned the gesture to Raila as a social media joke.

On his Facebook page, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who is a close ally of Odinga, indicated that the ODM leader was planning to donate some of the goats that he had received.

"Baba will donate some of the goats to single mothers, orphans and the needy in the society," he stated.

In a previous press briefing, Odinga revealed that his health situation while suffering Covid-19 was worse than reported.

"Kwa wiki tatu nimekuwa katika hali mahututi (This is my first public appearance and God is good. For three weeks, I have been in critical condition," the former premier said.
