Maragua MP Mary wa Maua risks being arrested after reports emerged that she fought in public.
A report by Daily Nation on Sunday, April 25, indicated that the lawmaker, with the help of her two aides, reportedly fought with villagers at Iganjo Shopping Center.
One of the victims, Mixson Warui, told the police that the MP allegedly hit him on the ear while the aides pinned him down.
He made the reports at Makuyu Police Station after he was redirected when seeking to file the same complaint at Kamahuha Police Patrol Base.
The incident arose after a clash between two factions, one which was supporting the MP and the other which opposed her.
Warui claimed that his phone worth Ksh18,000 was destroyed in the scuffle and that his suit valued at Ksh1,000 was torn.
This incident comes hours after Mbeere South MP Geoffrey King'ang'i and nine journalists were arrested on Saturday, April 24, at Makima during the eviction of over 5,000 families.
The lawmaker was protesting against the eviction of thousands of residents from disputed land in Embu county.
The journalists, who included KTN News reporter Daniel Moige and Cameraman Muriithi Mugo, were also detained while covering the eviction of the residents living on the Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA) disputed land.
The legislator and the reporters were held at Yatta Police Station.
During the demolitions, TARDA claimed that the exercise was necessary to reclaim the riparian land.
The residents complained that the demolitions were not fair claiming that they had not been given a notice to vacate the land.
Both the journalists and King'ang'i were released on Sunday after spending the night at the station.
