Thika Road Mall (TRM) has issued a clarification following reports that it had been put up for sale at a price of Ksh6.5 billion.
In a notice published in the dailies on Thursday, May 13, the management of the mall, TRM Holdings Limited, refuted claims that it had ran advertisements in the press over its intended sale.
The notice further warned that a number of notices had been issued by unscrupulous individuals.
"It has come to the attention of TRM that certain individuals have falsely published information suggesting that the TRM Mall is for sale.
"TRM notifies all members of the public that TRM Mall or TRM Holdings Limited is not for sale and nor has TRM authorised any party to engage in a sale process," read the notice in part.
Notifications had flooded social media pages claiming that the mall had been put up for sale with the asking price of Ksh6.5 billion.
"The published information is false and should be ignored and anybody who made inquiries to any person regarding the sale of TRM Mall would be well advised not to make payments to or engage with any individual, entities or their agents or proxies.
"Take notice that any person purporting to purchase TRM Holdings Limited shall do so at their own risk," continued the statement.
TRM has Carrefour as its anchor tenant with luxurious outlets such as LC Waikiki, Java House, Pizza Inn, Burger King and Cooperative Bank.
This comes barely two weeks after the management of Waterfront Mall rejected reports that it was planning to sell the facility located in Karen.
In a statement, the family of the late billionaire Nelson Muguku headed by Managing Director David Muguku stated that they were not looking to sell the property.
"We would like to dispel this information and let the public, our tenants, and clients know that the information is false and does not represent the position of the management. The information should therefore be disregarded.
"We would like to further inform the public that any information pertaining to the sale of the property, if any, or any other matter would be issued by the management through official channels," he stated at the time.
The mall which was opened in 2018, sits on 13.8 acres of prime property with the land having a man-made lake occupying 3.5 acres.
