Neighbours of a prime suspect in the murder of eight-year-old girl Shantele Nzembi have shared details about her to detectives working to unravel the case.

The neighbours indicated that the 27-year-old identified as Mutindi was a mother to a Grade 3 pupil and was known to most of them as Mama Mercy and Martha to others.

They indicated that Mutindi lived in a bedsitter in the building for over a year but rarely went out during the day especially after she closed her M-PESA business.

"Even after she shut down her MPESA business, she still lived large. She was fashionable and her daughter went to a private school," a neighbour told K24 Digital.

Some of the items that were collected from her house include; an sim card that was used to ask for ransom, tens of marvins, a brand new panga and bedsheets.

Police are looking for a bedsheet that was used to wrap Shantel's body before she was stashed in a gunny bag and her body dumped in at Orata area in Kitengela.

Mutinda's arrest brings to four those who have been nabbed following Nzembi's murder.

Earlier during the day, another woman by the name Agnes Kasiva Nzioki was arrested. She is believed to have picked Shantel on the day that she disappeared.

Two other suspects, Livingstone Makacha Otengo and Francis Mbuthia were arraigned at Kajiado law courts on Thursday, June 3, and detained for 10 days to allow detectives complete their investigations.

At the same time, autopsy conducted at the Shalom Community Hospital on Friday, June 4, has revealed that Nzembi died from suffocation by blockage of the mouth and nose.

Other samples have been taken to establish whether the eight-year-old was defiled before she was murdered.
