Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe on Wednesday, June 9, indicated that he was ready to quit his position in the Jubilee party.

In an interview on NTV, Murathe stated that he did not need a leadership position in the party anymore having achieved his goal of kicking out disloyal members allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

The former Gatanga MP has in the past resigned his resignation but resumed it after party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, turned it down.

"Our job was to push out those who do not believe in the dream of the party. I am happy they have found a house called UDA. Our work is done," Murathe stated.

He, however, stated that there remained one task to ensure that the DP kept out of Mt Kenya region.

"We are all on an interim capacity and soon we will be releasing a timetable on how we will start campaigns for the party positions from the ward level to the national level. Myself, am not interested in any position moving forward," he maintained.

Both Murathe and the Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju have received pressure to resign from the party and allow younger individuals to take charge.

"The fact that we should be able to engage more young people in the party at the leadership level is very important. That's one of the passions of the president," Tuju stated.

A number of leaders led by Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru have admitted that the Jubilee party was on the brink of sinking after the string of failures it has had in various by-elections.

She stated that it was it was time for the party to have a moment of deep introspection.

"The rains have beaten us. Our fortunes are dwindling. Intense introspection is demanded," Waiguru stated.

In an interview on Citizen TV, senior counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi indicated that the Jubilee party had no future.

"After 2022, it will be a small party...Murathe can have the carcass if he will be there, it has no future, Jubilee is dead," the senior counsel stated.
