A 23-year-old businesswoman in Eastleigh, Nairobi County has sent an emotional appeal to her family, urging them to pay Ksh5 million ransom demanded by her kidnappers.

In a 35 seconds video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Hafsa Mohammed Lukman is featured having been blindfolded with both her hands and legs tied.

She also had open wounds and scars- showing that she had been tortured by her abductors.

"I have been kidnapped, and they’re demanding ransom. Please, send it," Hafsa stated- her voice barely heard in the video due to the wounds and scars on her mouth.

Omar Ibrahim, Hafsa's brother-in-law, intimated to the media that the kidnappers had sent a text on Wednesday, June 16, demanding the ransom.

"Her abductors last texted us on Wednesday, June 16, at 11:30 pm saying that they needed the ransom. We are worried that they might harm her," Ibrahim stated.

Hafsa was last traced at her shop on Tuesday, June 15, through CCTV footage. She was spotted in the company of a woman identified as Hafsa Abdulwahab- a businesswoman who sells watermelon in bulk in Eastleigh.

The two women are seeing leaving the shop moments later. The family of Abdulwahab has also affirmed that their kin is missing.

The video has circulated on social media with netizens calling for justice for Hafsa and her friend.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko also shared the video on his social media platforms urging women and children to be extra careful.

"Now if the police corner these burgers and kill them because they are armed, you will hear some people making noise that it's extrajudicial killings and these kidnappers have tortured the wife or sister to someone," Sonko opined.

Cases of kidnapping have become rampant in the recent past with abductors going to extra lengths to ensure their hatched scheme comes to fruition.

The case mirrors Shantel Nzembi's murder probe where the eight-year-old girl who went missing on Sunday, May 30, was found in a gunny bag the following day.

Nzembi's mother Christine Ngina revealed that her daughter's abductors had demanded Ksh300,000 ransom from her.
