Susan Wangari, the wife of the man shot at Thika Road reportedly has a dark past according to leaked police files detailing her alleged criminal record.
Wangari's husband, Daniel Gucoma, was sprayed with bullets by unknown assailants at Gwa Kairu, Ruiru along Thika road on Tuesday, June 22.
Police detailed that Gucoma was reportedly the leader of a gang that has been terrorising businessmen in Nairobi and was involved in a series of crimes.
The wife and other relatives were suspected to be part of the well-financed and organised gang.
Wangari was arrested in 2014 after allegedly carjacking a motorist at gunpoint in Nairobi, according to police who spoke with Nation.
In 2017, she reportedly faked police credentials and imposed herself as a policewoman. She was accused of assaulting and carjacking a businessman on the highway at night.
The trader alleged that Wangari in the company of another man was armed with a pistol. Then flying squad tracked and arrested her and she was charged with robbery with violence.
Wangari pleaded not guilty and was released on a Ksh500,000 bond. In 2020, the woman and her husband were further accused of robbery with violence.
"I am not aware of what you are talking about. My husband was not a criminal and neither am I," she defended herself on the day her husband died, revealing that she narrowly survived the incident.
The husband was also accused of robbing a bank in Eldoret, robbery with violence and carjacking and was fighting several court cases. He was alleged to be a car dealer by day and criminal by night.
Revellers at popular joints argued that he spent nearly Ksh20,000 daily to entertain fans and strangers in clubs.
The car that was sprayed with bullets at Thika Road was also reportedly purchased two weeks ago. The sellers detailed that the buyer, Gucoma, had only paid its deposit.
Police were reported to be conducting ballistic reports and forensic analysis and will also interrogate the sellers and eyewitnesses at the murder scene.
